How to recycle a TV in LA County
TVs are e-waste. They do not go in curbside trash or a curbside bin.
Where TVs go
- S.A.F.E. Centers (City of Los Angeles) accept e-waste including TVs — generally Saturday–Sunday, 9am–3pm, with per-center exceptions (UCLA takes e-waste on Saturdays only).
- County one-day events accept e-waste including TVs — free to LA County residents, usually Saturdays, typically 9am–3pm.
See the centers list and the event list, and confirm at CleanLA or LASAN before you go.
Before you transport it
- Sign out of streaming apps and remove the TV from your accounts — a smart TV holds logins.
- Factory-reset a smart TV where the menu offers it.
- Secure a large or heavy screen so it cannot slide or tip; bring help for large sets.
- Keep the load within the county transport limit: 15 gallons or 125 lbs per trip applies to HHW transport — check the event rules for oversized loads.
Not this route
Solar panels are a different stream and are not accepted at county HHW events or permanent centers — do not bring panels expecting the TV / e-waste route to take them.
